Friary Care staff are raising money for Children in Need by starting off the day by having a swim before work on our lovely local Weymouth beach. Normally, during a warm Summer’s day the beach would be full of swimmers and, as we say down South, ‘grockles’… but not so much on this frosty November morning!
Instead our staff are getting into water that is expected to be 14°C! Most of our staff would never dream of getting into water colder than a nice hot bath, but today is about charity and raising money. Our staff’s family, friends, and partners are all getting up early in order to be right there supporting and cheering on our staff as they plunge into the icy depths! But as long as we’re raising money for a good cause that’s all that matters.
After we dry off we’ll be adorning ourselves in bright colours and selling some raffle tickets. Hopefully we can generate more money for what is an absolutely amazing cause.
Residents are also taking part in decorating home made children in need biscuits and being able to view photos of this event in-house on tv whist being in the warm and raising a glass to all those who are taking part for such a wonderful cause.
