Friary House
My father originally stayed for 2 weeks respite while moving to the area. When the time came for him to be admitted to a care home following 6 weeks in hospital, seriously unwell, there was no other home that matched up to the kind of care he had received in respite. Despite his frailty on admission and 2 years later he is still holding his own, and never he or the family have any regrets about our choice of home.
From my first encounter with the staff at Friary House I felt sure that my dad was in the safest of hands. Dad was extremely well cared for – personal care was fantastic, activities were amazing (birds of prey, chicks, sheep, ice cream van, trips out, fish and chips to name a few). Dietary requirement met (delicious lunches, snacks, great variety). Health – regular visits from nurse practitioner and great communication at all times. All the staff have been incredible and I am so grateful for their kindness to my dad and my family too. An amazing team.
My mother spent the last four weeks of her life in Friary House. She was well cared for by kind and compassionate staff. This kindness was extended to her family and we were able to visit at any time. The end-of-life care given by the manager and staff was exemplary and went a long way in easing my mother’s final days and hours. Knowing that she was in such a kind and caring home was very reassuring for us all.
The care home are there for the residents, organising activities and trips out. My mother has thrived while living here and the staff are very attentive to the residents’ needs. The home is always welcoming, exceptionally clean and smells very pleasant. My sister and I were very relieved when we walked into the home on a fact finding mission to find a suitable home for our mother. The other homes weren’t a patch on Friary House. It has made mum’s and our lives very happy.
You cannot describe the feeling of great reassurance we feel as a family knowing that our grandmother/mother is at Friary House. The care and compassion the staff have to give is immense.
We chose Friary House as my mother’s new home four years ago, having viewed a number of other care homes across Weymouth. We made the right decision. The standard of care that the team provide is simply outstanding. The staff have supported Mum’s needs as an individual and kept me fully informed and involved – giving me complete confidence that mum is safe and able to enjoy her daily life.
Friary is light and airy and isn’t as large as some other homes, so the staff are able to make it feel like a family home. Mum has taken part in frequent activities ranging from arts and crafts, themed events and musical entertainment (she loves to sing) and even had the chance to interact with birds of prey!
Cleanliness, maintenance, home-cooked food and personal care are all excellent. The staff and management are very approachable. Mum feels ‘loved’ and cared for. The staff should take credit for making Friary such a wonderful, safe home for Mum through to end-of-life care.

Thanks to the patience and willing helpfulness of the staff, I have arranged regular garden visits with Dad since May, whether a summer’s evening beer together, an early morning visit before lunch or enjoying an afternoon in the sun, the staff never seem inconvenienced. Given the time needed to get Dad organised and to help him on to the decking, the staff are always welcoming.
Often my dad asks how I found this ‘gem’. The atmosphere is warm, homely and intimate. Most of the staff have been there for many years and they all seem to know him well. A real gem.

The highest standard of care and healthcare was constantly provided to Mum over four and a half years. The environment is one of care, warmth, and friendship – as a home should be – and is combined with great attention to detail. It was Mum’s home and she was very happy there. This is the best healthcare and care culture that I have seen and experienced.

My Aunt was very reluctant to move into a care home as it meant admitting she could no longer cope. Friary House have done everything possible to make this a positive experience and looked after her brilliantly. Thank you.
L B (Niece of Resident)
I’m happy. Love it when my daughter comes for lunch. My room is lovely, the staff are wonderful. Most of all I’m happy.

Staff show human kindness and treat residents as individuals. There is a genuine sense of team spirit. Flexibility and welcome show to family and visitors is much appreciated. A homely atmosphere in the best sense.
A “very good” box would have been useful for all questions below. For “good” read “very
good” in most instances.

A truly welcoming and caring home. The management team and staff were always kind to residents and always mindful of the resident’s needs and preferences, treating them with dignity and respect at all times. They treated the family of residents with kindness and respect, were always polite and engaging.
Activities were frequent for residents both in and out of the home and inclusive of relatives. I would have no hesitation in recommending Friary House for residential care.

Kingsley Court
The time had come for us to look for a ‘home’ for our dear mum – after looking and visiting a few we walked into Kingsley Court and my sister-in-law and I both looked at each other and smiled! It was that instant – just a feel! From when I’d spoken to them to arrange a visit to them greeting us it was all so welcoming and relaxed! The pre-visit from the manager made Mum feel assured that she would be welcomed and cared for and we all felt the manager was listening to Mum carefully on her needs! Both residents and staff all looked happy!
Kingsley is a smaller home (16 residents) which is perfect for our mum! Her room (with en-suite) is airy and bright. Mum tells us the food is really good too! Whenever I ring the home the office staff are also extremely friendly and we are always made welcome and phone taken to mum if needed! After 4 weeks we know we’ve found mums home! Thank you Kingsley Court for making an emotional time so much easier and looking out for us all!
My mum is extremely well cared for by friendly and committed staff. She has much more company and is much better mentally stimulated at Kingsley Court than she was whilst living with me and my husband. The food is excellent and nothing is too much trouble for the dedicated team of carers. I am always made to feel welcome on my regular visits, as are my husband and other relatives and friends on their visits. I really feel that we could not have chosen a better care home for my mum.
The staff are very caring and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. My mother (once she had settled after a couple of weeks) stated – the girls are lovely and help me and the food is lovely.
She is now well-settled and enjoys the company of the residents and staff.
My mother is very well looked after and treated with great dignity. The room is bright and clean with excellent furniture and where she also has some of her own furnishings. The care staff are excellent and my mother is always dressed well. The care home also takes the residents out for meals at local cafes and lay on many activities. Last, but not least, the food is very good and residents have a choice of meal.
I can find no fault in the treatment of my mother in Kingsley Court. We are lucky to have found such a caring, efficient and happy home for her.
Mum has been a resident at Kingsley Court for three years. She is in noticeably better health than she was prior to going there and I attribute this to getting regular meals and her prescribed medication at the correct times in short, the care she is receiving. The staff seem to genuinely care about us as well as for the residents and to show patience and kindness towards them.
Kingsley Court is a very caring, flexible and supportive care home. Staff provide excellent personalised care and support. Nothing is too much trouble for their residents and the resident’s families.
When Mum and Dad were struggling at home, staff did not hesitate to provide additional care and support. I cannot praise the home enough! Thank you Kingsley, you are a credit to the social care services.
Staff are friendly and provide good care to my mother. Her lack of mobility is well managed by her carers. Considering her age and her preference, she stays in her room, her meals are brought to her and she is encouraged to join in with activities. Any medical issues are dealt with by contacting local practitioners.
J G (Daughter of Resident)
Mum had 2 strokes in Lockdown and we were informed she needed to go into care. Not only could we not visit her in hospital we couldn’t view care homes. From the first point of contact, I can’t fault Kingsley Care Home. They have been completely on the ball with everything I have asked. They are so friendly. This is vitally important in these Covid times. Mum has sadly deteriorated but they have been brilliant to both mum and in keeping me informed.
Gillian L (Daughter of Resident)
After viewing quite a number of homes, Kingsley Court felt right the moment we walked in. Bright, airy, clean and tidy.
Mum was instantly drawn to the resident yellow budgie who looked just as happy and content as the other residents.
The garden is perfect for sitting out and barbeques with seeds potted by residents ready to go into the new veg patch when grown.
We were encouraged to make her own room her own space with her own pictures, furniture, etc. All staff including the manager and chef are cheery, approachable, efficient and professional. Any queries or concerns are addressed promptly.
The food looks and smells delicious. Three months on it now feels like we have an extended family and it is very reassuring to know that Mum is surrounded by people that have her best interests at heart.
T D (Daughter of Resident)
I have now had several separate weekly stays at Kingsley Court and I cannot fault the care and attention received from your staff. Always welcoming and helpful. Thank you so much.
D G (Respite Resident)
I have been very impressed by the care I have received during the first two months I have been here. It was all much better than I had expected. The general philosophy, ensuring that all residents are treated as having individual needs and that their room is regarded as their private home, is carried out by all the staff.
The kind and friendly attitude of the staff is more important, I feel that any of the tick box answers to the questions usually asked in reviews. In my experience, all the staff at Kingsley Court have gone well over what I could expect to ensure that I am happily settled here.
Loraine B (Resident)
Management and staff are committed to making the residents feel at home at KingsleyCourt. They are kind and helpful at all times. The home is spotlessly clean and the residents enjoy good home cooking served in a cheerful dining room. All rooms are tastefully decorated and the residents can enjoy the pretty sheltered garden, games, entertainment and outings are organised.
R G (Wife of Resident)
This is a home from home. All of the staff are kind and gentle and very caring 100% commitment. The chef is very friendly and helpful, always willing to cook something if a resident would like it. A hairdresser comes once a fortnight for those who want her. There are group activities and outings organised.
Importantly the house smells nice and clean always a good sign of a well-run home.
G M (Daughter of Resident)
My mother dreaded going into a home but was medically unfit to stay at home. The home she is in cannot be faulted. I looked at seven others and this one appealed immediately. I have visited over the last two years at all times of day and there has never been one thing wrong. It is kept clean, no smell, food excellent and all the staff and management are kind, cheery and efficient. I would be more than happy if I eventually end up there. I recommend it most highly. I also have very high standards.
Review from Jane G (Daughter of Resident)
The staff are extremely caring and supportive, nothing is too much trouble. The management ethos of putting the residents and staff at the heart of everything they do is reflected throughout the care they provide. A warm and hospitable welcome to all visitors further endorses confidence in the home.
