Gentlemen’s Day Celebrations 2026

Residents celebrated Gentlemen’s Day with family visits, a traditional roast dinner, football and a special trip to enjoy Armed Forces Weekend in Weymouth.

National Bee Day 2026

National Bee Day was celebrated with honey tasting, bee-themed activities and the installation of bee houses, helping residents learn about the importance of bees while enjoying a fun and engaging day together.

D-Day Remembrance Day 2026

Residents took time to reflect on the anniversary of D-Day, honouring the courage and sacrifice of the Allied forces while remembering Weymouth’s important role in the historic operation.

Mental Health Awareness Week 2026

Mental Health Awareness Week at Friary Care included walks, live entertainment and social activities designed to support wellbeing, encourage conversation and promote positive mental health.

Christmas Dinner & Celebrations 2025

National Day of Arts in Care Homes 2025

The National Activity Providers Association (NAPA) champions arts in care homes, supporting a diverse range of creative activities. This year’s theme, Going Green, means celebrating creativity through sustainability. Friary Care residents decided that with Autumn being upon us we were going to put our creative skills to the test by making some artistic trees.

Friary Care Goes to the Sealife Centre 2025

Residents enjoyed a trip to the Sealife Centre in Weymouth. It was an amazing day getting to see lots of different species of marine life up close.

Summer BBQ 2025

Friary Care takes pride in giving our wonderful residents lots of amazing events at any and all times of the year. That’s why we’ve hosted a summer cocktail party BBQ!

Victory Over Japan Day 2025

Residents spent the day making paper poppies by hand. Each poppy was carefully crafted, with many residents sharing memories and thoughts about what the symbol means to them. A symbol of love, community and pride.
Later in the day, we gathered together to watch The Kings Parade, a moving and dignified tribute that brought the room together.

A Sunny Day Out 2025

Friary Care residents and staff enjoy a sunny day out at the local public gardens. A fantastic day spent enjoying the sunshine!

Friary Care’s Teddy Bears Picnic 2025

We invited residents family and friends (plus their teddy bears) to a picnic at Friary Care. Younger family members enjoyed face paint, balloon makings and a lovely picnic buffet.

Gentlemans Day 2025

A fantastic day spent celebrating all the Gentleman in our lives! So to all the Dads, Grandads, Grandpas, Step Dads, Brothers, Uncles, Sons – Happy Gentlemans Day!

 

Weymouth Big Wheel Ride 2025

Friary Care residents enjoyed a trip to Weymouth seafront to enjoy a ride on the big ferris wheel. A wonderful way to take in the views over Weymouth beach.

Celebrating VE Day 2025

We celebrated VE day. Our residents wanted to commemorate the sacrifices that were made during World War 2, by those young and old, such that we could all live lives full of joy and laughter.

Mothers Day at Friary Care 2025

At Friary Care we celebrated Ladies Day in March. Traditionally this is celebrated as Mother’s Day, but we want to take the opportunity to not just honour mothers, but also grandmothers, sisters, daughters, and friends.

All the residents and staff wish all the ladies of the world a lovely day filled with love, laughter, and lots of smiles.

Friendship Day 2025

Instead of Valentines Day we celebrate Friendship Day here at Friary Care. It gives us the opportunity to celebrate friendship in all its forms with our amazing residents and staff.

Chinese New Year 2025

Our care home residents had a great day learning about the Chinese zodiac and celebrating the Chinese Lunar New Year. We decorated homemade Chinese lanterns and enjoyed a delicious Chinese menu.

My grandmother is extremely happy at Friary House. The staff are hardworking, kind, caring and always smiling. As a family, we feel comfort knowing our grandmother/mother is safe and happy. At Friary House, the team are exceptional. Thank you!

Throughout the pandemic we have been advised by the Department of Health, The Care Quality Commission, Public Health England, and our dedicated GP. This has ensured our ability to give the maximum protection to those who have made their home with Friary Care, our staff and their families. All our staff and residents have been offered the Covid-19 vaccine and we are looking to the future with a much easier heart.
