As we age our hearing gradually deteriorates. While many people don’t admit to having hearing difficulties, hearing loss is a problem that affects more than 70% of people over 70 in the UK.
Not being able to hear properly can result in people feeling isolated and even depressed. Many withdraw from aspects of their everyday lives as they begin to struggle in social situations.
Ear wax buildup is very common in older people, too much wax buildup can block the ear canal and limit sound travelling to the eardrum. A hearing care professional can quickly restore hearing using ear wax removal treatments and micro-suction to clear the ear of excess wax.
Debbie Marlow of DLM Ear Care has been providing ear wax treatment in Weymouth for several years and we were keen to bring Debbie into our care home in Weymouth.
Debbie brings all her ear treatment kit with her including PPE, and will be providing a full ear wax treatment for our residents starting this week. The service is paid by Friary Care for its residents.
