A very special new member has joined the team at Friary Care. We are delighted to introduce Sullivan, our newest therapy dog, whose gentle nature and friendly personality are already bringing smiles to the faces of our residents.
Sullivan’s calm temperament and genuine love of people make him the perfect companion. Whether he is spending quiet time with residents, encouraging conversation or simply offering a comforting presence, every visit is focused on promoting emotional wellbeing and creating meaningful moments.
The Benefits of Therapy Dogs in Care Homes
Therapy dogs can have a hugely positive impact on the wellbeing of older people. Spending time with a friendly dog has been shown to help reduce stress and anxiety, lift mood and encourage communication, particularly for those who may be feeling isolated or living with dementia.
For many residents, interacting with a therapy dog can also spark memories of beloved family pets, creating opportunities for reminiscence, conversation and social connection.
Bringing Comfort, Confidence and Companionship
Sullivan is much more than a friendly face. His visits help create a warm and welcoming atmosphere where residents can relax, build confidence and enjoy the simple comfort that animals often bring.
As part of our ongoing programme of activities and wellbeing initiatives, Sullivan will play an important role in enriching daily life at Friary Care, helping residents feel connected, supported and valued.
We are thrilled to welcome Sullivan to the Friary Care family and look forward to seeing the happiness, comfort and companionship he brings to our residents for many years to come.
