Do you have specific qualifications or responsibilities you can share?
I have now completed Level 5 in Adult Social Care.
At Kingsley Court we work all together as a family and share our experiences and responsibilities every day.
What do you enjoy most about working at Friary Care?
Being part of the big family. Not only with my colleagues but also resident and their families. Daily laughter. Daily challenges, they motivate me to learn and be better at my job
In what ways do you make a difference to the organisation and to the residents?
My capability and knowledge brings stability to care staff, residents and their families.
How would you best describe Friary Care?
Caring. Caring for resident and their families. Caring for team.
What things do you like to do outside of work?
My little son takes up much of my time and I love making him laugh. My biggest hobby is travelling.
Share some fun facts about yourself
- I’m afraid of heights so I push myself into extreme situations ie. Bungee jumping, parachuting.
- I’m advanced Scuba diver and love exploring underwater world

Job Title: Deputy Manager
How long have you worked at Kingsley Court?

What is your job role at Kingsley Court House?
My job involves ensuring that residents care plans are up to date, to make sure that they get the correct care. I liaise with other health care professionals, family and friends of residents.
I get to spend time with the people who live here, learn their life history and also that of their families as they play big role in the care of each person here.
Do you have specific qualifications or responsibilities you can share?
I have done lots of training over the years, NVQ qualifications, in house mandatory training with needs regularly updating, my last achieved qualification outside of in house mandatory training was Level 5 diploma in leadership for health and social care.
What do you enjoy most about working at Friary Care?
I enjoy meeting people and hearing their history and trying to make the days better for them by spending time and chatting with them, they are all individuals with different stories to tell. They learn as much about us as we do them when we sit and chat.
I enjoy having the freedom in my work day to stop and a spend time with the people who live there, whether that be in the house or going out for coffee with them.
In what ways do you make a difference to the organisation and to the residents?
I would like to think that I make a difference by stopping and spending time with the residents here. At times all a person wants is for someone to have some time to sit and chat with them. A few minutes can make a huge difference in some ones day.
I like the freedom to be able to take a resident out if they fancy just popping to the shop or wanting to go out for coffee. We encourage the residents to continue to live their lives as they choose to, so being able to join in doing that for them is making a difference.
How would you best describe Friary Care?
I would best describe Kingsley Court as a home that likes to promote individuality and encourages people to be as independent as they can be through support and guidance. We have good relationship with other health care professionals that are involved in the care of the people that live here.
What things do you like to do outside of work?
I like reading, cooking, spending time with my family and friends, walking our dog.

- When I was younger I used to do Synchronised swimming. I used to play Hockey for my senior school.
- I recently took part in the Muddy Dog Run in Exeter, with my husband and our pup.
Angela Brown
Job Title: Senior Health Care Assistant
How long have you worked at Kingsley Court?
10 years
What is your job role at Kingsley Court House?
I divide my time between hands on Care and office duties.
I liaise with various Health care professionals for the benefit of our residents Health.
My role as Senior is to ensure the needs of each resident is being met.
Do you have specific qualifications or responsibilities you can share?
I have an NVQ level 2 certificate.
Since taking on the role of senior my knowledge in all areas has developed.
What do you enjoy most about working at Friary Care?
Really getting to know the people I care for. I’ve met some truly amazing people. I’ve laughed and I’ve cried with them, its been a privilege.
In what ways do you make a difference to the organisation and to the residents?
I am reliable and I am able to talk to people in all aspects of care.
I have empathy, so can see things from other people’s view points with understanding and compassion.
How would you best describe Friary Care?
A warm and welcoming home for residents and a supportive, caring workplace.
What things do you like to do outside of work?
Spending time with my family which includes my dog Tizzy.

- I hate salmon.
- Enjoy a glass of red wine (on occasion.)

Sarah Parkes
Job Title: Office co-ordinator
How long have you worked at Kingsley Court?
Since 2007
What is your job role at Kingsley Court House?
I co-ordinate staff rotas & training and deal with invoicing and contracts. Most of my days are spent undertaking admin tasks within the home and liaising with staff, residents and families.
Do you have specific qualifications or responsibilities you can share?
I have a level 3 NVQ in business administration.
I also hold a certificate in mental health first aid which is something that I am always keen to learn more about.
What do you enjoy most about working at Friary Care?
Kingsley Court has felt like a second home to me for many years; it is always inviting and plays an important part in my life. I enjoy the family feel amongst staff, residents and their families.
I am always happy to tackle problems and get a great sense of satisfaction when as a team we work through harder times such as the covid pandemic; we always come out of the other side stronger.
In what ways do you make a difference to the organisation and to the residents?
I am available with a smiley face and friendly ear to listen to anyone. I enjoy having tea and cake mornings with the residents and learning about their lives, past, present and future.
How would you best describe Friary Care?
A holistic approach to care; we do our very best to meet the needs of anyone who crosses our paths. Peter Fry promotes the ethos of transparency and openness and this filters down throughout the team.
What things do you like to do outside of work?
Outside of work I enjoy walking my dogs, swimming and spending time with my family. I have recently started teaching myself about stained glass work and like to always have a crafty project on the go!

- When I was a teenager I wanted to be a pig farmer!
- I laugh at inappropriate moments!
- I recently took part in the Muddy Dog Challenge in aid of Battersea Dogs Home with some of my team members and our pooches, we had a fun and messy time!
