Mental Health Awareness Week 2025

It’s Mental Health Awareness Week here at Friary Care, and also Wear It Green Day!

At Friary Care we consider the mental wellbeing of our residents and staff to be of the utmost importance. That’s why Friary Care takes pride in celebrating Mental Health Awareness Week, and also Wear It Green Day, hosting a range of activities that allow residents and staff to express their thoughts, feelings, and emotions. One of those has been staff taking on the ice bucket challenge for mental health!
Where a collection is available for those who wish to donate.

We’ve explored our creative side with arts and crafts, where the residents have been invited to make all manner of decorations for the home! The residents made amazingly colourful hand print artwork where they used their own hands as the source of the art. The residents also put together incredible word-based artwork to represent different aspects of mental health such as “respect”, “it’s OK to talk”, and “you’re not alone”. With the decorations in place, the residents had pictures taken with their wonderful ‘handiwork’!

On top of it being Mental Health Awareness Week, it has also been Wear It Green Day. We encourage staff, residents, family, friends and everyone else to wear green to raise awareness for supporting good mental wellbeing, to remind others that need it that they are not alone, and also to fight the stigma surrounding mental health. Green is the colour that represents hope, strength, support, and encouragement – for this reason we are proud to wear our green items for this amazing cause.

All in all, mental wellbeing has such a massive role in all of our lives, where everyone should always be free to talk about their feelings without fear of being stigmatised. Friary Care during Mental Health Awareness Week, on Wear It Green Day, but also everyday, would like to remind you all that “it’s OK to talk”.

My grandmother is extremely happy at Friary House. The staff are hardworking, kind, caring and always smiling. As a family, we feel comfort knowing our grandmother/mother is safe and happy. At Friary House, the team are exceptional. Thank you!

Our commitment to your safe care

Throughout the pandemic we have been advised by the Department of Health, The Care Quality Commission, Public Health England, and our dedicated GP. This has ensured our ability to give the maximum protection to those who have made their home with Friary Care, our staff and their families. All our staff and residents have been offered the Covid-19 vaccine and we are looking to the future with a much easier heart.
