National Day of Arts in Care Homes

Art in Care Homes - Dorset

We’re celebrating National Day of Arts in Care Homes here at Friary Care!

The National Activity Providers Association (NAPA) champions arts in care homes, supporting a diverse range of creative activities. They promote these activities all year around but also host a special day each year, and this year their theme is ‘Going Green’!

This year’s theme, Going Green, means celebrating creativity through sustainability. Friary Care residents decided that with Autumn being upon us we were going to put our creative skills to the test by making some artistic trees.

And as we’re ‘Going Green’ we made our tree with using different types of environmentally friendly sourced materials. These included: tree bark; pinecones, conkers, apples, different shades of green trigs, glitter, and some spare wall paper.

The residents all had a different type of vision and oh boy did we all have fun and lots of laughter by trying to make their vision a reality, so much fun was had by all. It was so nice to see staff and residents and families pull together and see all our efforts come together!

What a lovely day we had being artists for the day!

My grandmother is extremely happy at Friary House. The staff are hardworking, kind, caring and always smiling. As a family, we feel comfort knowing our grandmother/mother is safe and happy. At Friary House, the team are exceptional. Thank you!
