World Mental Health Day at Friary Care

World Mental Health Day - It's ok to not be ok

At Friary Care we consider the mental wellbeing of our residents and staff to be of the utmost importance. That’s why yesterday we celebrated World Mental Health Day, hosting a range of activities that allowed residents and staff to express their thoughts, feelings, and emotions.

We explored our creative side with arts and crafts, where the residents were invited to make all manner of decorations for the home! The residents made amazingly colourful hand print artwork where they used their own hands as the source of the art. The residents also put together incredible word-based artwork to represent different aspects of mental health such as “respect”, “it’s OK to talk”, and “you’re not alone”. With the decorations in place, the residents had pictures taken with their wonderful ‘handiwork’!

We also had staff take part in World Mental Health Day. We gave all staff (and also our excellent supporting district nurses) a cup of sweets and treats, where the cup contained a latte, cappuccino, or hot chocolate sachet, two bars of chocolate, a World Mental Health Day pen, and a World Mental Health Day badge. We reminded staff how much they truly mean to us, that they do such a phenomenal job, how we are always there for them, and that Friary Care is always a safe and welcoming place for anyone of any mental health background.

All in all, mental wellbeing has such a massive role in all of our lives, where everyone should always be free to talk about their feelings without fear of being stigmatised.

Friary Care on World Mental Health Day, and everyday, would like to remind you all that “it’s OK to talk”.

Our commitment to your safe care

Throughout the pandemic we have been advised by the Department of Health, The Care Quality Commission, Public Health England, and our dedicated GP. This has ensured our ability to give the maximum protection to those who have made their home with Friary Care, our staff and their families. All our staff and residents have been offered the Covid-19 vaccine and we are looking to the future with a much easier heart.
